Of Coffee and A Bubble Bath

bubble.jpg
If you were having coffee with me I would ask you if you had bathtub with running hot water. I miss having a bubble bath. It’s so been so long since I filled a bathtub with water and just immersed my body in it and simply soaked.
We havent had running water in what feels like ages I do not remember the feeling of turning a faucet and water just gushes out as if by magic, little things one takes for granted. There is a sign that hangs by the toilet door;

“If its yellow let it mellow,
If its brown flush it down”

Words to live by, considering you have to carry a bucket of water from outside to go to the toilet.

If you are having coffee with me, hope I haven’t ruined your appetite, but that’s ok we are not really having coffee, see, I ran out of fresh water and the bucket in the kitchen is full of water that smells like medicine, I added those water purification tablets to it and now you can smell the chlorine in it, haven’t been brave enough to drink it, I guess it would ruin the coffee. That is why we are having juice, I hope you like lemonade, I squeezed it myself.

Speaking of Lemonade have you heard or watched Beyonce’s visual album, titled Lemonade? It made a lot of hullabaloo on the internet. #Lemonade I haven’t watched it, The website it streams from is not available in my country, I wonder if all those people who say they watched it really did or they were just reacting based on other people’s reactions. If life gives you lemons make lemonade.

If you were having coffee with me I would say if life gave lemons you really need to stop doing drugs because life does not go around giving people stuff. I love the way you laugh, at least I hope you are laughing and not choking on your lemonade. Funny story about the lemonade, I bought the lemons from a street vendor with a tshirt printed LIFE at the front, isn’t that ironic. I wanted to talk to them point out the ironies and laugh about it, but municipal police arrived and chased all the vendors, because, well, its illegal to sell stuff on the streets in the CBD. If life sells you lemons buy them and make lemonade.

but if life gives you potatoes:

If you were having coffee with me I would ask you, if someone bathes themselves from a bucket, placed in bathtub, is that taking a bath or having a shower? Questions that keep me up at night. I have lots of those, I really should start a blog tag about such. But bathing from a bucket has this satisfying conclusion with the final rinse when you empty the remainder of the water on water on your head and it drips all the way down, presto you are squeaky clean.

If you were having coffee with me I would ask if I can take a bubble bath at your house, I promise I am good at conserving water and I will even bring my own herbal foam bath with essential oils. If all you have to bath with is a bucket full of water, its not a good idea to add bubble to it because how will you rinse up, I have seen this I have done this you dont want this.

If you were having coffee with me I would show you this cute picture of my niece (she will kill me when she is all grown up), a baby in a bucket.

  1. The things that keep you up at night though😂

    I haven’t heard(or even watched) Lemonade. But there’s a new song by The 1975…hihi.
Also, ‘essential oils’?? You people take life too seriously. Just take a good shower with a nice scented shower gel for the love of God😂. No, no baths at my house.

    • hahahahaha The things that really keep me up though, when I feel the vibrations of someone coughing coming from beneath my bed and I imagine, the thingie from the movie Paranormal Activity, is under my bed,
      *bolts upright from bed*
actually i scared myself just then …..

Essential oils are Essential with Capital E, one does not simply wake up with baby smooth skin smelling like a thousand smiles, yes I smell like a thousand smiles and no you cant smell me thats weird.

  3. Well temporarily living in Liberia, I know what you mean. My recent water horror story is about a bottled water. I buy big 6-pack cases for food. So I take this one 1.5 liter bottle out of the plastic case, open a lid, and freak out, because I think I snapped half of the bottleneck. I look for that missing piece of plastic, only to realize that a defective bottle was sealed at the factory. Upon a closer look, I realize that the water in the bottle is speckled, full of ants! And my tap water is the color of comomile tea. I used to love bubble bath too… Now I just clean up. Occasionally 😉 and not to mention that I used to love salad. Now every time I eat salad in the restaurant, I get sick. I’d tell you all of those stories while coffee too 🙂

      • Salad if washed in this kind of bad tap water holds bacteria. A lot if internationals here get sick right and left from the rabbit salad 🙂 I eat potato salad too 🙂

  4. Great post! It took me by surprise and even though it had moments of humor and sweetness it also made me think about clean water justice and places in the world where – for many people – the day’s goal is locating clean water for drinking, cooking, bathing, etc., while others of us take clean water access for granted.

  5. And my next coffee date came faster than I expected! Yes, lemonade is fine by me. It’s gonna sound cheesy but I really do connect with your trail of thoughts- including those you stop halfway because of a second thought. Bubble baths- I miss those! Been pretty used to the bucket thing for some time now. Gee! can’t I just read and stop writing my own part of the story? You know, from the other side of the table, quietly listening to your questions while sipping on the lemonade that has droplets of water on the glass, indicating it was once cold- but not anymore as I paid more attention to you than to the sweet-sour taste of lemons. You’re a brilliant writer and I’m glad I visited your blog! ❤

    • Hi Mfon That was quick.
you noticed I tend to have so many thought going on at the same time you should live in my head its quite a …erm fascinating place lol
Shall I get you more ice? Dont you hate it when your ice melts in your juice and it becomes watered down which is why I took the liberty of making ice cubes from lemonade, so you can add to your not so cold glass and not dilute the taste, how about that for a great party trick.
Thank you so much for the visit ♥♥

      • That’s a great party trick B! I’d like to live in your head- even if it’s just for a day. I’d like to careen through the streets of thoughts intersecting at various points. Maybe, just maybe, someday I can carve a tent and live there. 🙂 🙂

  6. If we were having coffee, I would tell you I’m not sure about that potato. Lol…on the serious tip though, we do take a great deal for granted. I do take showers but enjoy baths much more. I would tell you that I do make lemonade with the lemons thrown my way. Right now the lemonade is a little bitter sweet. Waiting on a little more sugar to sweeten the lemonade. Enjoyed this post.

  8. Was really nice having lemonade with you 🙂 . . . I’ve also wondered about the whole bath/shower situation as well. I’d be safe and say I’ve bathed. The Beyonce album is overrated!

Your niece is adorable by the way *heart emoji*
