Of Coffee, Mothering Sundays, Blogging Awards and Fans

If you were having coffee with I would greet you and ask if for a second you thought it was Mother’s day and you were wondering if your calendar is broken? Well it’s not Mother’s day its Mothering Sunday (falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent) Its celebrated almost exactly like mother’s day except that its origins are steeped in religion. On this day a very long time ago folk used to return to their mother church; the church where they got baptised and later it become the day people let their housekeepers go to church and then eventually turned into a day celebrating motherhood … Happy Mothering Day to all the mothers, you are forces of nature!!!

If you were having coffee I would tell I attended an Influencer’s Cocktail event which was also an awards ceremony for Zimbabwean  content creators Zim blogging awards. The event and the awards were created to bring recognition to bloggers and also try to engage brands and corporates to make use of the services of bloggers and their online influence in a mutually beneficial relationship.

zim blog awards

If you were having coffee with me I would tell you that awards are always tricky things especially inaugural awards. I felt they put too much value on the influence aspect and more a popularity contest than properly doing tribute to online content creators; with a flawed voting system allowing people to vote unlimited times, I was tempted to also vote for myself multiple times. But hey we gotta start somewhere; call it a learning curve and hopefully next time they will be bigger and better……..

If you were having coffee with me; I would tell you that the best part of the day was meeting people who would recognise you from your blog; to meet real people not your family and friends who actually read your blog and love your blog, the feeling is priceless, for a second you feel like you famous. The highlight of the day was when I met someone who had also been at the International Women day event I wrote about HERE in my previous post, telling me how they appreciate and I quote “men who love women” and thanked me for the support…. Little things like that, that’s what keep me going. If you are out there reading this Thank YOU.

If you were having coffee with me I would tell that suddenly I’m feeling festive Lets Do The March Blog Party whoop whoop: I’ll share some of my favourite posts from my favourite female bloggers because #PressForProgress go show them some love and in the comments below share a link to a post of yours you want read don’t forget to read posts from others and when you comment on a post you found from my blog sign off by saying With Compliments From The Muse so one can tell from whence they found your blog post. That’s pretty neat right? I promise to try to read every post you guys share…

Of Coffee With View A View and A Liebster Award

If you were having coffee with me……

An orange coffee mug

If you were having coffee with me, I would be glad that you joined me. We would be sitting on a bench, enjoying the amazing view of Mutare (Zimbabwe) from The Christmas Pass.

If you were having coffee with me, we would watch the sunset, and see the city come to life as the bright city lights come on.

The coffee we would be having; lets just say; if coffee was Motor oil; then the coffee in the our cups would be High Octane Fuel for high performance vehicles, its freshly ground and I got it from a coffee plantation, watched it being roasted and ground.

According to the GPS on my phone the coffee plantation is close to some mountain over there somewhere in Mozambique looking at Zimbabwe or maybe it’s the opposite, in Zim looking at Mozambique, no one there really knows the boundaries and the are no boarders. I guess we might as well as be all boarder jumpers, I did not pack a passport but I definitely crossed boarders.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I tried to draw a picture of the scenery but I ended up drawing cars instead. For the longest of time I have been fascinated by really fast performance cars with big bright headlights, big engines and lots of space in the trunks.

Now though, I am older hopefully wiser, I have come to appreciate the nerdy smart cars, with more brain less brawn those environmentally friendly economic, they get you where you going, with a solid dependability.

And these are the questions:

1. White or Black? Why?
Black, because I am just the way I like my coffee strong, hot, sweet, black and oh so sweet. And milk tastes like cow to me.

2. Coffee or tea?
Coffee because it is hard to begin a story with, IF you were having tea with me …..but my friend Sarah can begin an interesting tale over a simple cup of herbal tea.

3. Rain or Sun? Why
Rain. I like to dance in the rain, I love the smell of the damp Earth when it starts to rain, I want to scoop up the Earth and inhale deeply and eat it ….is that weird?

4. What keeps you up at night sometimes?
Watching the lightning and wondering if the flashes in the sky are not aliens taking pictures of us? The universe is too mindbogglingly big for us to be its only inhabitants.

5. Religious?
I believe in a God, looking down in love

6. Something about you that you’re still trying to wrap your head around.
Why do baby’s clothes have pockets? I mean its not like they keep cars, money or even keys.

gollum11_lrg

“So what do kids have in their pocketses precious?”

7. Worst habit?

I never start doing something I can’t do well, because if it is not worth doing well, then its not worth doing at all.

8. Idealistic or Realist?
I am a perfectionist I guess that makes me idealistic. I dream grand dreams

9. Your best post on my blog. Why? (I’m a little narcissistic sometimes. 😉
This post here… because I just thought about it while sitting in a bus, a random lady started singing out loud, and I realised she is my voice crush, and I remembered the question you asked about having a crush.

10. Do you believe there is that one person out there for you? Like happily ever after and all
I am a dreamer….. my happily ever after walks and talks

Nominees ( and anyone else game enough to drop a response) Feel free to answer the following questions, elaborate and  interpret them how you will.

P.S. My Nominees for the Liebster Award

Rules of the award
A blogger can nominate up to 10 other bloggers, then create a post announcing the nomination. The nominated bloggers should have less than 3,000 followers. The first blogger then asks 10 questions to these bloggers. Blogger Recognition Award

blogger-recogntn-award

Lisa from Rebirth of Lisa has most graciously awarded my blog with a Blogger Recognition Award. This is my first award of any sort since I started this blogging thingie so I decided to play along, thank you very much Lisa and I must say it does give me a warm fuzzy feeling or could it be from the celebratory glass of a sweet red I am having *cheers*

Just the other day I got a notification from WordPress congratulating me on my second year anniversary (makes it seem like a marriage) since the start of this blog, so I will accept this award as a well deserved “birthday” present on behalf of my blog. #WeOwnAugust I was listening to ZiFm and they having birthday celebrations, that’s the tag they have been using  (but how does one own the a month unless you named after it or you buy it but from whom would you have bought it? those are things that keep me up at night, that and the internet its like a modern day Hotel California, you login any time you want but you never ever leave *insert evil laugh*)

How did this blog start? Honestly I do not remember it must have been some fear of missing out thing, you know you open an account on a social media site, tinker around a little then leave it, I think that’s what I did so I have scrolled to my first post to see what I was on about, then it hit me.

I started this blog simply to be myself and take off my mask, We All Wear Masks  to write down the crazy stuff in my head (Things I can not speak about lest people look at me like I done escaped from a mental institution. My head does not need examining I had it checked, I looked in the mirror and it looks pretty darn fine to me, end of discussion) so that I could clear space for more but`yeah I was mainly on a poetic phase Of being Me now I am not following any formula when the mood moves me I write something and in my head I look at you looking me at looking at you and I laugh and laugh and laugh, there is no judging here, right? When I cant sleep these are my musings.

So I have left sublime indicators for links on some of my old posts that I would love you have a look see over cup of tea perhaps, here’s to my old friends to my new friends and to the random blogger who just happened to end up here how did you get here welcome anyway and do stick around.

My advice to new bloggers, hmmm, hey just do you and mostly have fun. I write mainly to me, for me by me (sounds cliche to you? sue ^_^) and I get pleasantly surprised when I find people having as much fun reading as I had writing. A friend said to me “tune in to your natural frequency and feel the resonance”

on to the hard bit finding people to nominate. So I have been meaning to give a shoutout to the blogs which I constantly check up on to see what they been up. Know this I stalk each and everyone of you I might not comment but I watch you while you sleep post, I mean I read what you post.

please note This is in no particular order

*Drum roll please*

  1. Cardboard Express
  2. I came for the soup
  3. The Mind Ramp
  4. Odenbk
  5. Paida
  6. FeelingStation
  7. Writing Verse
  8. Life through the disability lens
  9. teemadzika
  10. kyrosmagica
  11. missmona263
  12. Sparkling
  13. Makupsy
  14. Geletilari

The Rules:

  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.
Do some digging if you must! Find those blogs. You cannot nominate yourself or the person who has nominated you.
  • Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers.
  • Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog.
  • List who you’ve nominated in the post.
  • Make sure to also attach the award itself! (You can do this by right-clicking, saving, and uploading the image above).
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you’ve nominated them.
  • Provide a link to the award post you created.
  • Provide a link to the original post on Edge Of Night. That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing!
